Award winning composers, lyricists, and playwrights Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman have been long-standing creative partners – each of them composing the book, music, and lyrics, for all of their shows.
Recognized for their outstanding musicals for young audiences, their works have played on stages and have toured across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Their musical How I Became a Pirate has played in over 300 theatres around the world. Over the years, San Diego Junior Theatre has also presented their Jingle ARRGH! the Way and Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale.
Their musicals are published by both Theatrical Rights Worldwide and the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization. They are members of ASCAP, and The Dramatist Guild, and are represented by the Paradigm Talent Agency in New York City.
In 2005 the two were honored together as National Music Educators of the Year, and have won three distinguished OWEN AWARDS for outstanding music and recording sales achievement. In 2015, the duo was nominated for a prestigious Ohio Arts Council GOVERNOR'S AWARD for outstanding arts achievement.
