Akeelah and the Bee News!
Auditions for Akeelah and the Bee are on January 9 & 10, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in the Casa del Prado Theatre. For information about the play and the many roles available, CLICK HERE. Electronic copies of the script are available upon request. Please email [email protected] to request. This play requires a diverse cast, with several culturally-specific roles. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
Magic Tree House News!
The Pre-Audition Workshop for Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon KIDS will be held on Saturday October 21, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Casa del Prado Theatre. Please check in at the main theatre doors at 10:00 am.
Join Director, Randall Eames, to learn more about his vision for this production and the many ways you might become involved. This is an excellent opportunity to have all your audition questions answered. Remember, you must be enrolled in a winter class to audition!
Tuck Everlasting News
Auditions for Tuck Everlasting, directed by Desha Crownover and choreographed by Marc Caro-Willcox, will be held on Tuesday August 29th and Wednesday August 30th from 4:00-6:00p in Room 102 of the Casa del Prado Classroom Building. Auditioners should call (619) 239-1311 for an audition appointment. Students must be 8-18 years of age by Opening Night, October 27th, 2017 and enrolled in a Fall Session Class to qualify to audition.

Out of the Wings: Shirley Johnston
San Diego Junior Theatre welcomes back Shirley Johnston as Director/Choreographer of Pippin! Previous Junior Theatre credits include our 2016 production of Pinocchio at Roosevelt Middle School. Shirley began her professional career in musical theatre in 1999 at the Starlight Bowl in Some Like It Hot. Since then she has worked with San Diego Comic Opera, San Diego Lyric Opera, Lamb’s Players Theatre, The Coronado Playhouse, Sledgehammer Theatre, Vista’s Broadway Theater, Moxie Theatre, Ocean Beach Playhouse, Onstage Playhouse, Moonlight Stage Productions, and Dicapo Opera in New York City. In September Shirley will be direct and choreograph Little Shop of Horrors at the Coronado Playhouse. The pre-audition meeting for San Diego Junior Theatre is on April 15 at 10:00 am in the Casa del Prado Theatre.
