Junior Theatre alumnus Morgan Hollingsworth is a San Diego-based music and theater artist. He has written music for musicals, short films, dance pieces, his folk/rock band Satin Nickel, and his own solo singer/songwriter work.
His first musical The House of Edgar Allan Poe, was part of New York Musical Festival’s Developmental Reading Series in 2017, and in November 2019 it received a full production as part of Weber State University’s mainstage season, featuring his original orchestrations. His most recent musical, Call Your Mother, was written in less than a month and premiered through the popular musical theater podcast series, One Million Musicals.
While getting his BFA in Music Theater from UC Irvine, Morgan enrolled in New Musicals Initiative’s Core Curriculum in North Hollywood where he met librettist Lori Ada Jaroslow. The two of them are developing their musical Margot’s Blessing, which premiered at New Musicals Initiative, into a full-length indie/rock musical that explores the process of overcoming addiction.
Morgan joined forces with fellow UC Irvine alum Samantha Aneson, and founded their band Satin Nickel, which includes drummer Nikola Balac, bassist Andrew Shewaga, and cellist Ariana Karp. Satin Nickel released their first self-titled EP in 2018, followed by their first full-length album Shadow of Doubt, released in April of 2020.
