Costume, Prop, and Set Rentals
With over 77 years of production history, San Diego Junior Theatre has a diverse stock of costume, scenic, and prop pieces available for rental.

San Diego Junior Theatre has been creating youth-focused theatre for decades. After each production closes, we thoughtfully save and recycle our sets, props, and costumes for future use. Many pieces are stripped down to their core elements and reimagined for new productions, resulting in a rich collection built over generations. From the everyday to the extraordinary, we offer thousands of items spanning a wide range of styles, sizes, and historical periods.
Junior Theatre does not maintain costume, prop, or set storage organized by individual productions. Instead, we collaborate with renters to help bring your design vision to life. While we may have specialty items you are seeking, such as Fester’s banjo from The Addams Family or Annie’s iconic red dress, as well as essential theatrical staples like 4’ x 8’ platforms or four-step stair units, we do not offer complete show packages or full costume plots. In short, we cannot provide all of Finding Nemo JR, but we can help you pull together your Finding Nemo JR.
Some of the shows Junior Theatre has produced include: Addams Family, Aladdin, Annie, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast, Cats, Charlotte’s Web, Guys and Dolls, Hairspray, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Little Princess, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors, Mary Poppins, Moana, Mulan, Oliver, Peter Pan, Seussical, The Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Wizard of Oz, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I rent everything I need for a specific show?
Not exactly. After each production, our materials are repurposed, rebuilt, or reused, so we do not maintain complete, show-specific inventories. We are a youth theatre with resources to share, not a full-service rental house. While we may not have everything for your show, we’re happy to help where we can.
How does the rental process work?
We recommend starting with a clear plan. Have your production details organized, including scene shifts, costume needs, actor measurements, and design concepts. Reference images or sketches are especially helpful.
Once you know what you’re looking for, reach out with specific requests. We may be able to share photos, and if needed, we’ll schedule a visit for you to view items in person.
If items are available, we’ll prepare a rental agreement and invoice. After payment is received, you can pick up your materials, use them for your production, and return them on time and in the same condition.
Can you design my show for me?
We’re happy to work with your design team to help execute their vision, but we do not provide design services.
Can I bring my whole team to a visit?
Our facilities are limited in size. Please limit visits to no more than three people.
Can I bring students or children?
Student members of your production team are welcome. However, additional guests are not permitted, and for safety reasons, young children are not allowed in the scene shop.
How long can I rent items?
Rental periods are flexible and will be determined based on your needs and availability of the items. All materials must be returned on time to avoid late fees.
How much does it cost?
We do not have a standard per-item rate. Pricing is based on the quantity of items, length of the rental, and any associated labor. As a non-profit youth theatre, we strive to keep pricing reasonable.
How do I pay?
Once your rental agreement is finalized, you’ll receive a digital invoice. Payment can be made by credit card or by mailing a check.
Can I alter rented items?
• Costumes: Permanent alterations are not allowed. Minor, non-destructive adjustments such as hemming or temporary fittings are permitted. All costumes must be returned in their original condition, with any labels or nametags removed.
• Sets and Props: Any changes must be approved in advance by our rental department.
Do costumes need to be cleaned before returning?
Yes. All costumes must be returned clean and ready for their next use. Some items may require dry cleaning due to their fragility.
