San Diego Junior Theatre, the oldest continuing children’s theatre program in the country, is looking for an Executive Director. This independent, non-profit organization provides engaging, innovative and high-quality theatre education and productions to enhance the lives of children of all ages, cultural backgrounds, abilities and levels of interest. SDJT operates for the benefit of children throughout San Diego County; since 1948, its productions have entertained more than a million theatergoers of all ages.

San Diego Junior Theatre Aide Job Description and Application Procedures

San Diego Junior Theatre is now accepting applications for our 2013 Summer Camp Aides. As an aide at SDJT, your primary responsibilities are to offer support and assistance to the Teaching Artists and ensure that each student has a safe enjoyable camp/class experience.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist teaching artists and JT staff members with management of class materials during set up and clean up.
  • Assist Teaching Artists and JT staff members with clean upkeep of class and camp environments. (Classrooms, corridors, lunch area, restrooms, office, storage spaces, etc.)
  • Assist with classroom management when appropriate by re-directing off-task students.
  • Provide one on one assistance to students needing extra attention.
  • Facilitate class activities and games by participating in all activities and assisting the Teaching Artists and individual students.
  • Supervise students during class and camp transitions, breaks and lunch.
  • Assist Teaching Artists with class and camp check-in and pick-up.
  • Assist students with restroom breaks as needed.
  • Work as an inclusion aide when needed and provide extra help and support for students with special needs.
  • Qualifications

    Required: Completion of Junior Theatre AIT Class and Internship or equivalent aide/assistant experience.

    Desired: First Aide and CPR certification. Inclusion training or experience. Background/experience in Theatre Arts.

    New Aide Application (aides who have never aided before or have not aided in over 1 year)

    Returning Aide Application (aides who have worked for JT within the past year/12 months)

    San Diego Junior Theatre will be reviewing applications and availability for all interested parties. Priority scheduling will be given to all current aides

    The Education Director and Education Program Manager will review applications and schedule interviews for new or returning aides as needed.

    Interviews for any open aide positions will take place between April 29-May 10, 2013. If you are unable to meet in person, phone or Skype interviews will be arranged.
